About Urban Matters
Urban Matters (ISSN: 2004-206X) publishes urban research articles and commentaries on urban events, processes, trends and discussions of urban pasts and futures. It also publishes interviews with urban experts and artists, photo essays and book reviews. The Editorial Board encourages combining academic rigueur with journalistic flair to present quality analyses of urban matters to a broader public that includes communities beyond academia. Urban Matters seeks to stimulate and contribute to public debates around one of the most pressing global challenges of our time: the volume and speed of contemporary urbanization and its social, economic, political, cultural and ecological consequences.
Urban Matters is published by the Institute for Urban Research which is an interdisciplinary research institute that brings together all urban research at Malmö University. IUR engages with citizens, civil society, private actors and public authorities to communicate research results and find ways to implement solutions, working toward urban justice. The IUR’s main research themes are housing and welfare, global urbanism, green and just cities, and urban humanities.
Urban Matters publishes theme issues that are assembled by guest editors. If you want to be a guest editor, please go here. After a proposal for a theme issue has been accepted by the Editorial Board, guest editors are responsible for collecting contributions, editing the contributions and submitting them to the journal. The Editorial Board may do some final editing and will send the texts to proofreaders.
