Shiva is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi. Her doctoral research revolves around the political economy of care and social reproduction, with focus on the labouring lives of women care workers in India. Her primary research interests include informality, welfare, labour and capitalist transformations. As the social world gets increasingly structured by apps and algorithms, her interests have expanded to questions of governance, digitalisation, platformisation and transformations in work and working lives.
