Leyla Bektaş Ata completed her doctoral studies at Hacettepe University Communication Sciences in 2019. She has been working at Kadir Has University as a post-doctoral researcher. Her researches focus on urban, gender, and everyday life studies. Her doctoral thesis was awarded the Ilhan Tekeli Doctoral Award. Her book, Limontepe’de Yaşamak, Büyümek, Beklemek: Kentsel Dönüşüm Öncesi Bir Mahalle Anlatısı (On the Edge of Urban Transformation: Narrating Life in Limontepe Neighborhood), was published by IdealKent Publications in 2021 and awarded the Urban Studies Book Award organized by Zeytinburnu Municipality.
