Jason Finch
Jason Finch is Professor in the department of English Language and Literature at Åbo Akademi University, Finland. A scholar of urban humanities, mobility humanities and public humanities, Jason was trained in spatial literary studies with a focus on British modernism. He now researches literary representations of urban place, and transportation spaces as imaginative zones in which identities are formed and contested. Publications include Deep Locational Criticism: Imaginative Place in Literary Research and Teaching (John Benjamins, 2016) as well as Literary Urban Studies and How to Practice It (Routledge, 2022), plus numerous co-edited volumes and special issues. Essays have appeared in the European Journal of English Studies, the Journal of Transport History, the Journal of Urban History, Urban Studies, the Journal of Urban Cultural Studies and Literary Geographies. Pursuing his interest in Midwestern US urbanism, Jason has been visiting St Louis, Missouri and surroundings to research cultures and neighbourhoods there since 2017.
