Annapia Debarry
Annapia Debarry is a PhD candidate at the Geography Department of the University of Bonn. Her research explores the transformation of food systems in rural and urban Ethiopia through the lens of feminist political ecology, with a particular focus on embodied perspectives and critical infrastructural geographies. She examines how shifting agrarian and urban food ‘scapes’ intersect with gendered labor dynamics, socio-ecological vulnerabilities, and the everyday lived experiences of marginalized communities navigating precarious food systems. Drawing on her background in critical development geographies, sociology, and journalism, Debarry employs qualitative-ethnographic methodologies, with a strong interest in feminist and creative approaches. Through her teaching and research, she seeks to contribute to broader conversations on food justice, gender equity, and politics of socio-environmental change.
